Cookie Willacy: Guitar
Eric Kurtzrock: Drums
Kip Lieber: Keyboards
Steve "pUNK" Cunningham: Bass
We had our second practice last night. I wanted some material for this bio thing, so I said to the guys, "Name the most famous people you'd played with". Cookie responded, "Bob Marley". I pretty much forgot everything he said after that. He used to play in the S.W.A.M.M.P. Band, and I know he's done a lot of work with Trent Reznor and some folks from Inner Circle. Cookie is pretty sick on guitar. I know Eric has played with David Byrne and David Grisman to name a few. He spent most of the last 20 years drumming professionally in the L.A. and San Francisco area. And I'd like to introduce you to Kip Lieber who I feel can play a melody as well as anyone. He's a staple of PD's Pub's Purple Tuesday open stage. And me, well, I've been working with Relix recording artists Sandoz for about 27 years. I've also been with the Flying Cunninghams since 1980, and have played with Breakneck Creek, Juggling Suns, and done a lot of session bass guitar and vocal work at Pittsburgh Sound Productions.
1G evolved out of pUNK and Friends about 3 years ago. I called Cookie in March do to a studio recording of a song I wrote, and it came out well, so I adopted him. Eric joined in June when the need for a sit-in drummer arose.
I hope the rest, as they say, becomes history...
